1 Te îndemn stăruitor înaintea lui Dumnezeu şi a lui Hristos Iisus, care va judeca viii şi morţii, şi înaintea Împărăţiei Lui şi a venirii Lui: 2 vesteşte cuvântul, stăruie la vreme potrivită dar şi nepotrivită, mustră, îndeamnă, cu multă răbdare şi în toată învăţătura. 3 Căci va veni vremea când oamenii nu vor mai suporta învăţătura sănătoasă, ci, dornici să îşi desfete auzul, îşi vor lua învăţători după propriile lor pofte 4 şi nu vor mai asculta adevărul, ci se vor abate către basme . 5 Tu, însă, fii treaz în toate, îndură suferinţele, fă-ţi lucrarea de evanghelist, împlineşte-ţi slujirea!

6 Cât despre mine, eu sunt oferit deja ca jertfă, iar timpul plecării mele s-a apropiat. 7 Am luptat lupta cea bună, mi-am sfârşit călătoria, am păzit credinţa. 8 De acum mi s-a pregătit cununa dreptăţii, pe care, în ziua aceea, mi-o va dărui Domnul, Judecătorul cel Drept, nu numai mie, ci şi tuturor celor care îi iubesc venirea.
9 Străduieşte-te să vii cât mai curând la mine, 10 fiindcă Dimas, din iubire pentru veacul de acum, m-a părăsit şi a plecat la Tesalonic, iar Crescent, în Galatia, Tit, în Dalmaţia. 11 Doar Luca a rămas cu mine. Adu-l şi pe Marcu pentru că îmi este de folos în slujire. 12 Pe Tihic l-am trimis la Efes. 13 Când vei veni, adu-mi mantaua pe care am lăsat-o în Troas, la Carp, precum şi cărţile, mai ales pergamentele.
14 Alexandru, arămarul, mi-a făcut mult rău; îi va răsplăti Domnul după faptele lui. 15 Păzeşte-te şi tu de el, fiindcă s-a împotrivit foarte mult cuvintelor noastre.
16 La prima mea apărare, nimeni nu mi-a venit în ajutor, dimpotrivă, toţi m-au părăsit. Să nu li se ţină în socoteală! 17 Dar Domnul mi-a stat în ajutor şi m-a întărit, pentru ca prin mine vestirea evangheliei să fie împlinită şi toate neamurile să o audă. Iar eu am fost izbăvit din gura leului. 18 Domnul mă va izbăvi de orice lucru rău şi mă va mântui pentru Împărăţia Lui cerească. A Lui să fie slava, în vecii vecilor. Amin!

19 Îmbrăţişează-i pe Prisca şi pe Acvila, şi pe cei din casa lui Onisifor. 20 Erast a rămas în Corint, iar pe Trofim l-am lăsat în Milet, fiind bolnav. 21 Străduieşte-te să vii înainte să înceapă iarna. Te îmbrăţişează Eubul, Pudens, Linus, Claudia şi toţi fraţii.
22 Domnul să fie cu duhul tău! Harul să fie cu voi!

9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: 10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry. 12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus. 13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee , and the books, but especially the parchments. 14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: 15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words. 16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. 17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. 18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever.
